Bigger... Isn't Better ?
Bigger Isn't Better.
This week The Garage Gym launches The Bigger Isn't Better Times.
A real newspaper featuring “real” frustrations about the big box gym experience.
The stories are satirical.
But the October 12th party to celebrate small is not.
We think you should love your gym.
Not tolerate it, mope into, or dread going to…
love it !
The Garage Gym was founded in 2021 with that simple idea and 5 years later, it’s still core to everything we do.
Our Bigger Isn't Better campaign pokes fun at the classic big box gym experience and makes the case for something different.
A gym that stays small on purpose.
What is Bigger Isn’t Better ?
Three individuals stepped up to talk about their experience at the big box gym.
Here are their stories:
Stephanie, 33.
Stephanie was a member at the big box for 5 years.
She joined for the amenities - pool, daycare, nail salon...
until she realized the amenities were part of the problem.
After having spent so much time driving around the parking deck, getting her nails done, and mingling in the locker room…
she actually put on weight.
That's when she realized - bigger isn't better.
Stephanie has since joined The Garage Gym.
She's following a program, lost 15lbs, and is even considering doing, ‘this HYROX thing everyone's been talking about’.
Stephanie reports:
"No one has tried to hit on me, and while I do have to go somewhere else to get my nails done, it's nice because I've made friends at my new nail salon too. Everyone has just really been so nice."

Anonymous, 34.
Anonymous was a member at the big box for 5 years.
He went intentionally early every morning to try and avoid the crowds… but still found crowds.
One day he found the entrance door locked because the manager overslept.
In trying to cancel his membership, he realized he was still being charged - 6 months after he thought he had cancelled.
That's when he realized - bigger isn't better.
Anonymous has since joined The Garage Gym.
He’s never been locked out of his early morning workout or waited for the equipment he wants to use.
While he's not interested in cancelling at this time, he knows if he wants to, it'll be an easy process.
Anonymous reports specifically:
"I do not miss all the naked locker room stuff I used to see."

Jeff, 29.
Jeff was a member at the big box for 4 years.
He's one to mind his own business… workout and go home.
But one day he found himself between sets, noticing a fight break out on the gym floor.
He rushed over to break it up.
In breaking it up, he started to get yelled at…
he soon learned - the fight was staged.
Two brothers trying to boost their views on TikTok.
That's when he realized - bigger isn't better.
Jeff has since joined The Garage Gym.
"It's clean, not crowded, and everyone's been super nice," he says.
He initially joined for the gym, but later found out there's a number of events throughout the year he can attend.
"The Member Concierge invited me to several events being hosted through the end of the year. I can't wait to meet new people and get more involved."
